You Have the Power to End Hunger. → cnn.com

“The World Bank estimates that $10.3 billion a year in nutrition interventions in 36 countries with the highest burden of undernutrition would prevent more than 1.1 million child deaths and cut in half severe acute malnutrition.

But technology, innovation and even resources are not enough. Defeating hunger and malnutrition requires political resolve. It requires leaders who will stand up and say, “Not on my watch.” The kind of leadership we are seeing now from the Group of 20 and the African Union, which have put food security at the top of their agenda.”

Aid to the Horn of Africa more complicated than it seems. → huffingtonpost.com

DISCUSSION OF THE DAY #1.

(DOTD’s will be done as often as is humanly possible).

The crisis in Somalia and the horn of Africa is becoming worse, and it seems like it is only harder to get aid to the people that suffer. What should be done?

White Teens Kill Black Man (STOD #5) → cnn.com

random-acts-of-kindness:

REBLOG IF YOU ARE AGAINST HATE CRIME, RACISM AND MINDLESS VIOLENCE.

(warning- not-so-great language ahead.)

WHAT THE FUCK?!

I’m not usually one to go off on rants, especially not on this blog, but too f***ing bad.

IT’S TWO-THOUSAND AND MOTHERFUCKING ELEVEN. AND THIS IS STILL HAPPENING IN AMERICA. Civil rights leaders gave their lives, legislation was put in place, good people and organizations have given all of their efforts to make sure that racism becomes a thing of the past, and then some MOTHERFUCKING TEENAGE KIDS DECIDE THAT THEY CAN IGNORE THAT BECAUSE, HEY, WHY THE FUCK LISTEN TO ANYONE WHEN THEIR TEENAGE MINDS KNOW IT ALL.

On here I preach non-violence, I preach tolerance, and I preach reacting to violent situations with love. Which is especially hard when handed a situation like this, but it is situations like this when the reaction of non-violence IS THE MOST ESSENTIAL. Believe me, people will want to react to this by resorting to violence, but that is not the answer. That is showing that you are on the level of these teenagers. You can hate them, but only if you let that hate go and turn that energy into love.

I ASK ONE THING OF YOU: write a letter to the family of James Craig Anderson. I don’t know his address, and I doubt it will be released, but write a letter nonethEless. FORGET ABOUT THE HATE. Concentrate on being supportive. Concentrate on being a source of love for his family in this dark time. Take a picture of this letter and send it to thejimmyd113@gmail.com, and I will post it here as a response to this hate. The eventual goal will be to get the letters to the family, but until then, photos will have to do.
